The
Honeymoon Suite/Master Bedroom is upstairs with its own
high balcony, a king bed to get lost in, a closet big
enough to live in and the master bath with
a shower and skylight.
The main floor with full deck features two bedrooms, one
with two double beds and the other with a king. These share a
full tub-shower bath. The great room with cathedral
ceiling and skylights features the dining area with seating for 6, plus enough folding chairs and table extender to seat another 4.
The full kitchen provides dishware for 24, plus serving pieces and a wide variety of cooking utensils.
You'll even find paper towels/salt & pepper, plus sweeteners so you can leave those items at home.
New dishwasher and stove/oven.
Beside the gas brick fireplace stands a
state-of-the-art 60-inch HDTV with comprehensive movie,
sports, family, and standard offerings. With the Charter
Entertainment Digital Box, you can see your games,
movies and programs all in spectacular HDTV where
offered, and standard cable material looks superb,
but be warned, the comfy seating in front of that TV and fireplace may make it a challenge to leave!
On the lower level is an office with wide
counter-desk, printer and a squishy executive chair. There
you'll hook up to Charter's highest speed
wireless connection and take
care of business while enticing mountain breezes lap against the
office's deck door, beckoning to take you away "unto these hills."
Also on the lower level with full length deck, there is a game room
with pool table and a sofa queen bed
as comfortable as any dedicated bed. Here, a wide screen 50-inch
HDTV with movies and sports sits beside another brick fireplace.

We Love the Mountains
Some years back, Joan and I discovered that we liked the beach but
loved the mountains. So when our daughter went to UNC-A (the only
school she applied to) we decided to make a commitment here in
Asheville and bought a house for her near the University.
But we always yearned for a place high on a misty mountain. In the
summer of 2004 we spent our vacation week looking. Many places we
saw were impressive, but when we saw this, our lodge, dreams merged
with reality as we walked through what we knew would be our home in
the hills, our little corner of heaven in the highlands. Steve
G. Duncan, our superb realtor, was inspecting another room as Joan and
I first stepped onto the middle deck and took in the vista across
the valley. I kept whispering to her to "shut up" as she failed to
contain her enthusiastic approval. I was afraid Steve would hear and
know that he had a "big fish on the hook." He just held back and let
us reel ourselves in. That is our story. And now we want to share
our mountain hideaway and make Highland Heaven part of your story.
After we bought the home in the fall of 2004, we spent the rest of the year preparing it for vacationers.
We have furnished our mountain retreat with comfort and relaxation in mind, and we hope you will return home
refreshed from your Asheville vacation. Because we do not use a rental company but instead manage this property
ourselves, we are able to charge less than a comparable vacation rental, passing this saving on to you.

recent article in the
New York Times about Asheville, just in case you were still
wondering if this very special town is the right choice for your
vacation. |
Reservations
The farther in advance, the better for both of us.
Policies
A $200 reservation deposit is nonrefundable; the balance is
refundable up to a month before arrival.
There is no damage deposit taken out of your charge card, but you
agree that your charge card remains open and we are free to charge
it if damages are caused by you or your party during your occupancy.
Therefore we need your card number even though you may be paying
with check, rubles, gold, rare stamps, your bottle collection or
whatever. We will keep your card number private and shred the data
when you check out without mishap.
House-Broken Pets Welcome
We bring our clean and well-behaved pets and so can
you. Just be sure they don't leave us both a stinky present on the
beige rug. We won't spank them, only your MasterCard or Visa for the
thorough rug cleaning. Still, we know they need a vacation, too. And
these days you can save a substantial portion of your vacation rent
by avoiding a big vet bill. We're members and workers in our local
Humane Society (hope you are) and we think landlords have an
obligation to include the "rest of the family".
If you would like to
bring a pet, please download our pet policy and enclose it
with your deposit. |
